Ethernet Vs WiFI

I use WiFi with Xbox, Im not a massive COD player, just now and again with mates, I seem to be suffering lag and sometimes glitchy play, would switching to ethernet help would it not make a difference? Wanted your opinion before shifting stuff around my house needlessly lol.
