Ok, I've seen a few threads about connection issues so I thought I'd post this.  It's the most in depth walkthrough I can give you.  I'm sure there's better out there but hey, be thankful that I'm helping you guys at all.

On your computer go to start>control panel>windows firewall>advanced settings

Go to inbound rules and choose new rule, this is going to be a port rule.

Choose TCP and enter the following numbers  80, 3074, 53 and then click next and follow the instructions it gives you. (if any)

Next you're going to create another new rule, still in inbound rules, port rule.  This time it's going to be UDP

The numbers for this will be 88, 3074, 53

Click next like you did before and you'll be done.

You may or may not need to restart either you computer, modem, router or all three.

Basicly what this does is open the ports that your xbox needs to play online properly.  It should change your NAT type to open.  If you want to check this you can go into Black Ops and choose multiplayer and go to options and press select I think.  It should come up with a bunch of info and it will say what your NAT type is.  Or you can go into your network settings from the xbox dashboard and choose test connection.  This will connect you to the internet and then xbox live and what not and should tell you your NAT type.  If you still can't figure it out, just boot up mw2 and go into multiplayer.  It says your NAT type right there.

I hope this helps anyone who needs it.
